Re-Inventing Social Enterprise
We work to foster the unique talents of disconnected and systems-impacted youth of color in Beaverton and Washington County through entrepreneurship and a community of support.
Our Programs
1
Education and Skills
We help set youth up with opportunities to become inspired and learn core concepts through real world experiences that are fun and validate their potential. Examples include:
-
Building an animal enclosure on a farm property
-
Photography for Beaverton’s virtual night market
-
Downtown Beaverton Mural project
2
Economic Empowerment
RISE helps youth learn business development and entrepreneurship skills through the creation of social enterprises, mentorship, and seed investments. Examples include:
-
Running a Tamale Purchase-and-Deliver Holiday Sale
-
Building a churro cart and planning for the launch of a churro business
-
Research and business plan development for a landscaping enterprise
3
Community Building and Empowerment
To build trust and create a welcoming, culturally affirming and fun space for youth to be themselves RISE invests time being in community with them. Examples include:
-
Basketball games at the park
-
Fishing trips
-
Hanging out by the taco trucks
4
Resources
In order for all of the above to be successful, the young people’s basic needs must be met. RISE generates and allocates resources towards:
-
Facilitating Mutual Aid
-
Rent / Bill Assistance
-
Accompaniment and navigation of the governmental agencies such as schools and the court system
-
Supporting DACA application
Donate Today
Make a donation today to benefit disconnected and systems-impacted youth of color in Beaverton.
We believe that by reaching out to the youth who are most impacted and hardest to reach we can create the biggest change. It’s easiest to teach the kids who want to be taught, but due external factors like generational trauma, poverty, and racial profiling some kids give up early. RISE welcomes these youth into our community, recognizing their unique talents and interests, and offers support to help them achieve their goals of self determination and independence. By trusting that young people know what they need to thrive, we can best bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to go.
